02 January to 09 January 2027 | 09 January to 16 January 2027
This is a 1 or 2 week retreat

What will you gain from the retreat?

Through the practices of Ashtanga Yoga, meditation, technique and philosophy we will look at how their integration helps us find our own way, our own unique movement and our own connection to ourselves and the world.

We will celebrate letting go and beginning again with beautiful intentions .

It Is here where Scott will work with your individual process and help you discover more space and movement in your practice. This collaborative approach will help you find safe ways to meet and develop your practice.

Afternoon Sessions: Where Philosophy meets the Body

About the Teacher

Scott Johnson has been practicing yoga since 1999 and been teaching since 2004. He is the co-founder and director at Stillpoint Yoga London, based in London Bridge UK, which he established in 2009. Scott has taught the daily Ashtanga Yoga assisted self practice at Stillpoint ever since it opened and over the years has built a wide and respected Ashtanga Yoga community based on a more mindful approach to the practice.

He was introduced to Ashtanga yoga by John Scott in 2002 and has studied with him ever since then. Scott is authorised to teach the primary and intermediate series of ashtanga yoga by Manju Jois and has a deep connection to the ancient practices of pranayama and vedic chanting that Manju shares. Scott has also undergone extensive Mindfulness training under the tutelage of Cathy Mae Keralse at Clear Mind International, gaining their level 3 certificate in Mindfulness and Compassion in 2015. He also studied extensively with late yoga and dram teacher Michale Stone

Scott sees movement, mindfulness and philosophy as the same, a deeply integrated and holistic approach to discovering our own unique patterns. He is deeply interested in how the teachings can come alive in each persons life. He teaches with encouragement, insight and integrity to the teachings of Ashtanga yoga and mindfulness that he has had access to.

He brings these insights into every class he teaches. His devotion and dedication to these practices assists practitioners in discovering how contemplative practice can unfold not only personally on the mat, but also to find deeper meaning in their daily lives.

His deep love of the contemplative side of these practices creates a rich, nurturing environment and he is deeply dedicated to the healing power of yoga and mindfulness in the people that he is fortunate to meet.

Scott is also the host of Stillpoints: A podcast with Scott Johnson where he engages in inspiring conversations with those whose lives have been changed by yoga and contemplative practices. He also releases short People of Yoga films each week on YouTube, where he shines a light on the stories of the many amazing people he has been fortunate to meet.

Practical Information About The Retreat Centre

Our retreat centre, Finca Naranjas (previously known as Cristoforo), is a simple yet deeply beautiful sanctuary nestled in the heart of South Tenerife. It was lovingly designed by architect Denis Devaris, who envisioned it as a meeting place for spiritual seekers. Built slowly over the course of 30 years using volcanic rock from the island, each room carries its own unique charm, full of character, thoughtful details, and personal touches.

The Meals

Our meals are prepared with love by our wonderful retreat chefs, offering fresh, wholesome dishes that are entirely vegetarian and mostly vegan. Wherever possible, we use local and organic ingredients to support both your wellbeing and the surrounding environment. Occasionally, eggs or dairy may be included in some meals.

If you have any food allergies or sensitivities, please let us know in advance.  Gluten-free options are available.

We also have a self-service tea and coffee station available throughout the day, and we do our best to provide fresh fruit for light snacking between meals.  You’re welcome to enjoy your meals either indoors or outside in the peaceful beauty of our garden.

The Practice

Our retreat offers an intimate practice setting, with a maximum of 25 students and morning classes limited to 16 participants for a more personal experience.

Sessions are held in our beautiful wooden garden Shala. During full retreats, Savasana is often enjoyed outdoors to create space in the Shala, and some afternoon workshops may also take place outside.

Please pack warm layers for practice, especially for Savasana, as mornings and evenings can be chilly.

Arrival & Departure

Rooms will be ready from 3:00pm on arrival day. The retreat begins with a welcome meeting at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 6:30pm. We kindly ask all students to arrive in time for the introduction.

Our first practice session takes place on Sunday morning, and the final practice is on Friday morning. Check-out is on Saturday at 9:00am.
