Ashtanga Mysore Program
July & August 2026
Mysore Monsoon Program
This monsoon season at Purple Valley Goa, our Mysore Program continues in a traditional setting — a time when Goa slows down, the landscape becomes lush and quiet, and conditions are ideal for sustained, focused practice. The program offers daily Mysore-style classes, supporting practitioners of all levels in developing consistency and depth in their practice.
Rather than focusing on achievement, the Mysore method encourages curiosity, consistency and self-observation. Over time, students develop not only a deeper understanding of the practice, but also greater confidence in trusting their own body and breath.

Program Schedule & Description
06:45 am – Seated Meditation
07:00 am – 09:00 / 09:30 am – Ashtanga Yoga Mysore-Style
Afternoon Workshops
Pranayama and meditation schedule is defined each week together with the group, based on their needs and progress.
The Mysore Program
Each day begins at 6:45am with a period of silent sitting. This quiet beginning offers time to arrive, settle the mind and connect with the breath before entering practice. At 7:00am, the Mysore room opens, where students move through the sequence at their own pace while receiving individual guidance throughout the morning.
While the morning Mysore practice cultivates discipline, consistency and self-study through movement, the afternoon offers an opportunity to slow down and turn inward.
Each afternoon session offers a guided exploration of pranayama and meditation, inviting students to deepen their relationship with the breath, quiet the mind and cultivate a greater sense of presence. Together, these sessions complement the physical practice, offering simple yet powerful tools that support both practice and everyday life.
The breath is the bridge between body and mind. Through accessible breathing techniques and meditation, we explore how conscious breathing can help regulate the nervous system, improve mental clarity, build resilience to stress and foster a greater sense of balance and ease.
Together, the morning and afternoon practices create a complete approach to yoga. The Mysore room cultivates independence through practice; the afternoon sessions cultivate awareness through stillness. One encourages us to listen to the body, the other teaches us to listen more deeply to ourselves. Both remind us that yoga is not simply something we practise, but a way of living with greater attention, steadiness and compassion.
Whether you are new to Ashtanga Yoga or returning to deepen an established practice, this retreat offers the time, space and guidance to step away from the pace of everyday life, reconnect with yourself and establish a sustainable practice that continues to support you long after you return home.

About the teacher – Cornell Gayle
Yoga has been one of the greatest teachers in my life. What began as a physical practice gradually became a journey of self-inquiry, discipline and growth, changing not only how I move, but how I think, relate to others and navigate everyday life.
Before dedicating myself fully to yoga, I worked in finance. Leaving that career to follow this path wasn’t a decision I made lightly, but it led me to study with and work alongside inspiring teachers at Purple Valley in Goa and Tenerife. Along the way, I discovered that while teachers can guide us, no one can do the practice for us. Real learning comes through consistency, patience and an open mind.
My teaching is rooted in the traditional Mysore method, yet I see yoga as far more than a physical practice. For me, it is preparation for life. The way we meet ourselves on the mat is often the way we meet ourselves everywhere else.
Years of studying bodywork and movement have deepened my understanding of how each person moves, learns and adapts. Every body carries its own story, so my approach is to meet students where they are while honouring the integrity of the tradition.
I believe a teacher’s role is not to create dependence, but to help students develop confidence in their own experience. The Mysore room offers a space to cultivate discipline without rigidity, effort without force, and self-study without judgement. My hope is that every student leaves feeling more connected to their body, their breath and themselves.
The greatest gift yoga has given me is a different way of living. If I can help others discover even a small part of that for themselves, I consider my work meaningful.
