A retreat with Basia Lipska-Larsen and Liwia Wyszomirska

This retreat will offer Ashtanga yoga practices with the intention of restoring vitality through asana and breathing techniques together with nutrition lectures, wholistic local food and beautiful natural surroundings of South Tenerife.

Basia offers inclusive and creative space for personal growth. She will share her insights and individual guidance to deepen your personal practice of the Primary series and as much Second series as appropriate.  A variety of alternatives for each posture will be introduced in order to allow multiple approaches for challenging asanas.

Those just starting their yoga journey are warmly welcomed. Liwia will conduct an introductory flow through an abbreviated sequence from the First Series.

Retreat schedule

Morning Practice
Mysore-style yoga sessions are offered every morning of the retreat. Those who have attended led ashtanga classes and are familiar with the sequence are invited to practice Mysore-style under Basia and Liwia’s friendly guidance.

Students practice the traditional ashtanga sequence according to their level and at their own pace.  Students practicing the primary, intermediate, or advanced series are welcome.

Raw beginners to Ashtanga Yoga are also invited to begin their journey of the primary series. There will be a morning led session in the adjoining yoga space daily.

Afternoon Sessions
Afternoons will be dedicated to technically-based flows that incorporate inversions, back bending and hip-openers, while other sessions will include partner work and study of technique. All afternoon classes will include restorative stretches, yoga asana and pranayama (breathing exercises).

Nutrition for yogis workshops
We recognise the importance of good nutrition for yoga practitioners and this year we will offer you more sessions in this subject. We will deliver three interactive afternoon workshops which will introduce you to the principles of nutrition combined with nutritional science.  The afternoons will offer an interactive space where you will develop a new understanding of nutrition and food through curiosity and playfulness.

The sessions will be a mix of theory and practice, including one workshop at the kitchen with food tasting.

Time off for local sightseeing
There will be two workshop-free afternoons during which you will be able to explore the beautiful landscapes of Tenerife such as the Volcano Teide or the local beaches of Adeje.

Basia Lipska Larsen

Basia is a respected yoga icon in Poland, Norway and Japan who has been teaching for over two decades. She has been involved with yoga training programs and creative wellness collaborations in the form of production, illustration, performance, art direction, styling, yoga sequencing and authoring. Basia has practiced Ashtanga Yoga since 2000, making annual trips to KPJAYI in Mysore, India. Basia was authorized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2004, followed by R. Sharath in 2008 and Manju Jois in 2014. Yoga became the hub of her wheel of activities for two decades. She is a certified professional who has managed and developed studios, taught and trained students at various studios in Asia and Europe. From 2015-2020 she was involved with the development of HiYoga of SATS – the largest fitness chain in Scandinavia. She currently offers select yoga classes and teacher trainings in Wroclaw, Poland where she resides with her family. Basia also teaches at the American School of Wroclaw in Poland.

Liwia has been on her naturopathic journey for over 15 years with an intention to help people find joy and interest in nutrition. Her passion is to teach others how to take care of their own health in a sustainable, long-term way. She trained as Nutritional Therapist and Naturopath in London where she resides and offers nutritional therapy online and in person.

Liwia has been teaching yoga since 2007. She has studied and trained various disciplines of yoga, with Ashtanga Yoga being her dearest and personal practice of choice.

Her teaching style is compassionate and calm. She specialises in teaching beginners, making Ashtanga yoga accessible to everyone from all walks of life.

Practical details about the retreat center

Currently the internet at the retreat is not reliable. If you are dependent on internet for work, we ask you to bring your own data on your phone, to which you can connect your laptop, if needed. Phones work very well. There is also a cafe 10 minutes from the retreat with good internet, however, it is a busy cafe and not very suitable for work. 

Finca Naranjas (previously Cristoforo) , our retreat centre is a simple yet beautiful place, built by an architect named Denis Devaris, who had an intention to create a meeting point for Spiritual seekers. Built slowly over 30 years using volcanic rocks from the island, the rooms are all unique with their own distinct personalities featuring beautiful details and personal touches. Given the nature of these types of buildings, imperfection is to be expected with a plumbing system not quite up to modern standards! However, set right into the land with a wonderfully lush garden, Finca Naranjas really is an oasis in South Tenerife. Through the years we have noticed that once the students and teachers arrive they immediately adapt to the peaceful environment, rarely wanting to leave the beautiful surroundings. Finca Naranjas is truly a retreat to retreat at! When packing for your retreat, make sure you add warmer clothes. From December till March the mornings and evenings can be quite chilly. The rooms are not heated, but are equipped with cozy duvets and blankets.

The meals
The food served at the retreat will be mainly vegan and completely vegetarian, prepared freshly everyday by our wonderful retreat chefs. We try were possible to use local and organic products. We sometimes use eggs or dairy in the kitchen. If you have food allergies/sensitivities, please let us know. Gluten free options are available. We have a self service tea & coffee station for guest use and try to provide fruit for snacking during the day.
You have the option to enjoy your food either inside or outside in the beautiful garden.

The practice
Maximum number of students is 25.
Practice will take place inside the beautiful wooden garden Shala. Savasana is usually taken outside to make space in the Shala, especially during full retreats and occasionally afternoon workshops will take place outside. Make sure you pack warm practice clothes for Savasana.

Arrival day and check out. 
The rooms are available after 3pm. The retreat starts with an introduction meeting at 5pm, followed by dinner at 6.30pm. All students should aim to arrive for the introduction meeting. The first practice is on Sunday morning and the last practice is on Saturday in the morning. The check out is on Saturday at 9am.

As much as possible we are trying to adjust to various budgets, and this year we offer two comfortable dormitory options - La Huerta  and Danae 2. We also have a wonderful villa which can accommodate 5 practitioners - Yin Yang. The Yin-yang option is perfect for friends and families.

Shared option mean that 2 students of the same gender share room. All prices are given per person and per week. 

Premium rooms
The premium rooms are the largest rooms at the retreat. These rooms have attached indoor bathrooms.

Yin -Yang Exclusive Dormitory
A unique 5 bed villa perfect for a group of friends or a family. The house has a kitchen, private patio and 2 bathrooms. Is also used for students booking individually.

The accommodation price is all-inclusive (includes accommodation, all meals and yoga). There is an option to pay a deposit of 50% of the full amount to secure your place. The deposit is non-refundable and the balance must be paid at least 4 weeks prior to the start date.
