A retreat with Basia Lipska-Larsen and Liwia Wyszomirska

This course is offered with the intention of wholistic body and mind rejuvenation. Ashtanga yoga practice is a system for body healing and restoring vitality. This retreat will tune into those aspects of yoga practice and wellbeing, together with nutrition lectures, wholistic local food and beautiful natural surroundings of south Tenerife. We will support you with open minded and hearted atmosphere for your complete restoration of your wellness.

Basia offers inclusive and creative space for personal growth. She creates a space of trust where each student can find a deeper sense of self compassion and strength. She will share her insights and individual guidance to deepen your personal practice for Ashtanga yoga practitioners.

Liwia will offer a nutrition workshops on some of the afternoons. She will provide a friendly, warm space for absolute beginners of Ashtanga in the mornings, who are welcome to join us for that week.

Retreat schedule

Morning Practice
Mysore-style yoga sessions are offered every morning of the retreat. Students practice the traditional ashtanga sequence according to their level and at their own pace.  Students practicing the primary, intermediate or advanced series are welcome. In addition, those who have attended led ashtanga classes and are familiar with the sequence are invited to practice mysore-style under Basia and Liwia’s friendly guidance.

Raw beginners to Ashtanga Yoga are also invited to begin their journey of the primary series. There will be a morning led session in the adjoining yoga space daily. 

Afternoon Sessions
Afternoons will be dedicated to technically-based flows that incorporate inversions, backbending and hip-openers. Classes will end with gentle stretches, restorative yoga and pranayama (breathing exercises).

There will also be two ‘Nutrition for Yogis’ workshops offered during the retreat. We will look at the ecology aspect of yoga and how lifestyle and nutrition practices are complementary to practicing yoga philosophy in action such as yamas and niyamas. This workshop will be based both on modern science research and wholistic nutrition principles to support yoga practitioners in attaining better body awareness and wellness.

Basia Lipska Larsen
Basia is a respected yoga icon in Poland, Norway and Japan who has been teaching for over two decades. She has been involved with yoga training programs and creative wellness collaborations in the form of production, illustration, performance, art direction, styling, yoga sequencing and authoring. Basia has practiced Ashtanga Yoga since 2000, making annual trips to KPJAYI in Mysore, India. Basia was authorized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2004, followed by R. Sharath in 2008 and Manju Jois in 2014. Yoga became the hub of her wheel of activities for two decades. She is a certified professional who has managed and developed studios, taught and trained students at various studios in Asia and Europe. From 2015-2020 she was involved with the development of HiYoga of SATS – the largest fitness chain in Scandinavia. She currently offers select yoga classes and teacher trainings in Wroclaw, Poland where she resides with her family. Basia also teaches at the American School of Wroclaw in Poland.

Liwia Wyszomirska
Liwia Wyszomirska is a yoga teacher and professional nutritionist based in London, UK. For past 15 years she has been an advocate for conscious lifestyle through her study, teaching yoga, consulting and educating in field of nutrition and naturopathy. Her interest focuses on nutrition for yogis as well as nutrition and lifestyle for longevity. She has been trained in variety of yoga styles, and is a dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioner. In her yoga teachings she is specialising in Ashtanga yoga for beginners, making this wholistic practice accessible to anyone who is keen to take on the journey.

Practical details about the retreat center

Currently the internet at the retreat is not reliable. If you are dependent on internet for work, we ask you to bring your own data on your phone, to which you can connect your laptop, if needed. Phones work very well. There is also a cafe 10 minutes from the retreat with good internet, however, it is a busy cafe and not very suitable for work. 

Finca Naranjas (former Cristoforo), our retreat centre is a very simple yet beautiful place, built by an architect named Denis Devaris, who had an intention to create a meeting point for Spiritual seekers. Built slowly over 30 years using volcanic rocks from the island, the rooms are all unique with their own distinct personalities featuring beautiful details and personal touches. Given the nature of these types of buildings, imperfection is to be expected with a plumbing system not quite up to modern standards! However, set right into the land with a wonderfully lush garden, Cristoforo really is an oasis in South Tenerife. When packing for your retreat, make sure you add warmer clothes. From December till March the mornings and evenings can be quite chilly. The rooms are not heated, but are equipped with cozy duvets and blankets for the beds.
The meals
The food served at the retreat will be mainly vegan and completely vegetarian, prepared freshly everyday by our wonderful retreat chefs. We try were possible to use local and organic products. We sometimes use eggs or dairy in the kitchen. If you have food allergies/sensitivities, please let us know. Gluten free options are available. We have a self service tea & coffee station for guest use and try to provide fruit for snacking during the day.
You have the option to enjoy your food either inside or outside in the beautiful garden.

The practice
Maximum number of students is 25.
Morning classes will be taught with maximum 16 students in each class.

Practice will take place inside the beautiful wooden garden Shala. Savasana is usually taken outside to make space in the Shala, especially during full retreats and occasionally afternoon workshops will take place outside. Make sure you pack warm practice clothes for Savasana.

Arrival day and check out. 
The rooms are available after 3pm. The retreat starts with an introduction meeting at 5pm, followed by dinner at 6.30pm. All students should aim to arrive for the introduction meeting. The first practice is on Wednesday morning and the last practice is on Friday in the morning. The check out is on Saturday at 9am.

The premium rooms are the largest rooms at the retreat. These rooms have attached indoor bathrooms.

The budget rooms are the smallest rooms at the retreat. Some of the rooms share bathrooms, a few of them are outdoors bathrooms. In a few of the rooms there may have disturbance from the road.

The dormitory is a spacious room for 3 persons.

The accommodation price is all-inclusive (includes accommodation, all meals and yoga). There is an option to pay a deposit of 50% of the full amount to secure your place. The deposit is non-refundable and the balance must be paid at least 4 weeks prior to the start date.
